Emergency Power and Generator Systems: The Backup Infrastructure That Must Work the One Time It's Needed
Emergency power systems — generators, UPS, automatic transfer switches, distribution — provide power when utility fails. Code-required emergency systems (life safety) have specific requirements; optional backup systems (mission-critical) have owner-driven requirements. Coordinating generator sizing, fuel storage, exhaust, testing, and commissioning requires specialty engineering and careful coordination. Systems that pass commissioning but fail in actual outage create the worst possible outcome.
