Colorado Mechanics Lien Deadlines: The Notice of Intent to Lien and the Four-Month Filing Window
Colorado will not let a claimant record a mechanics lien cold. A Notice of Intent to Lien must be served on the owner and the prime contractor at least 10 days before the lien statement is filed — and an affidavit proving that service has to be recorded with the lien. The lien statement itself is generally due within four months of last furnishing, or two months for day or piece labor. This guide walks the Colorado Revised Statutes Article 38-22 timeline a contractor or sub actually has to run.
