Project Closeout Documentation: What Goes in the Closeout Package and Why It's Worth Getting Right
Construction project closeout is more than substantial completion — it's assembling the documentation package the owner needs to operate the building. As-builts, O&M manuals, warranty certificates, commissioning reports, attic stock, training records, and final lien waivers all need to be collected, organized, and delivered. Projects that produce a clean closeout package get final payment and release of retainage smoothly. Projects that don't often stall at 95% complete waiting for paperwork that could have been assembled along the way.
