Lost productivity — labor taking more hours than planned due to conditions the contractor didn't cause — is a common construction claim category but notoriously hard to prove. Measured mile, total cost, modified total cost, and industry study methods each have strengths and weaknesses. Getting productivity claims right requires contemporaneous documentation of actual productivity, the disruption events, and the causation link. Without systematic documentation, productivity claims usually fail.
