Schedule Recovery Plans: When the Project Is Behind and the Question Is What to Do About It
Projects slip. When slippage accumulates beyond what can be absorbed through float, formal schedule recovery becomes necessary. Recovery options — acceleration, resequencing, additional resources, overtime, schedule extension — have different cost and risk profiles. A disciplined recovery analysis considers all options, quantifies cost, and produces a plan owners and contractors both understand. Casual "we'll catch up" rarely works; systematic recovery planning sometimes does.
