What Is a Shop Drawing? The Fabrication Detail Between Design and Install
Shop drawings are the detailed fabrication drawings prepared by the contractor or fabricator, showing exactly how design intent becomes shop-manufactured reality. They cover structural steel connections, precast pieces, curtain wall systems, custom casework, and anything else made to order. The design team reviews them for conformance to intent, but fabrication accuracy is still the fabricator's responsibility.
